Changing the Status of Documents Imported into Centricity/athenaFlex EMRs from Visual Signature Capture
When documents are imported into the EMR from Visual Signature Capture, their status
is signed by default. The document and any related Observation Terms will become
part of the patient's permanent chart. However, there may
be cases when one wants documents and their related Observation Terms to come in as unsigned.
When documents come in as unsigned, Observation Terms associated with those documents will
not immediately go into a patient's chart and be searchable.
- To have the Observation Terms (Lab Results) come in as unsigned,it is best to set up a new LinkLogic Interface, as described here. There are two changes to make in the EMR and one inside the Template using VFE.
- Click the Document Signature and Routing … button.
- Choose the option “Do Not Sign - Route for signature” for both normal
and abnormal results. Then click the OK button at the bottom of the
dialog box. Answer “Yes” to the confirmation message that appears.
- In Visual Form Editor, open the Template Properties.
- Create a Property Override for HL7_SENDING_APPLICATION.
- Set the value to the name of the LinkLogic task you previously created.
- To have Documents come in as unsigned:
This method is only used when no Observation Terms are in the Document. By default the Observation Term HL7 file is a parent item and its status will take precedence over the attachment HL7 file and the chart document will be signed/unsigned as the Observation Term HL7 file indicates:
- In Visual Form Editor, open the Template Properties.
- Create a Property Override for HL7_COMPLETION STATUS.
- Set the value to "DO".
This will allow Documents with just an attachment to come into the chart as unsigned.
